Does God only have one perfect person for me?How does God really lead us when we approach Dating and relationships leading to marriage?
Many single Christians are seemingly paralysed by the fear that God only has one perfect partner for them and
that there is the possibility that they might miss that person by dating the wrong one.
We, at ChristiansUK, try to encourage sensible thinking towards faith and relationships and in their approach towards Christian dating. In our experience many Christians have been influenced by certain off-beam teachings. These teachings have implied that God has only one perfect plan for your life and that unless you spend hours in prayer and fasting you will miss this by small amounts or never really find this plan at all. We believe that with many false teachings this has a grain of truth that has been taken too far. The truth is that the Bible teaches that God has promised to guide us and that all his people hear His voice. He also says that he has a plan that He promises for us (Jer. 29 vs11). We don’t believe that God would make plans for our lives that no one had any chance of living unless they were a hermit or a monk. God’s plans for us are based on normal life and the kind of commitment He expects from us is more to do with the surrender in our hearts than the hours of prayer we put in. So what is God’s plan for us like?God’s plan is broader than we think and in the same way that there may be several ways to climb a mountain so there are several routes to get to our destination. God’s plan for us is more like having an in car GPS system for our life. God give directions to get to our destination but if we miss them through taking the wrong turn of through road-works the GPS will always re-route us to find the place we need to go. So is there one person for me?If God’s plan can be missed and He is still able to re-route us then the truth must be that as we seek out our perfect partner through Christian dating He can handle it when we make mistakes. We do not believe there is only one possible person and if you don’t meet them then you are with the wrong person. We believe single Christians should take this pressure off themselves and allow God to steer them towards suitable people. In the end you will be with the right person as God is able to make our decisions perfect through His power.
