Christian dating advice article: Including God in your dating and your relationshipsHow should single Christian ask God for guidance in the area of relationships
As a Christian you will find it natural to involve God in all areas of your life particularly where it concerns major decisions involving life-changing events. How should we seek God for His plan for us?Some Christians won’t make any decisions until they have “heard God” but we don’t believe that this behaviour is sensible if it isn’t also combined with common sense. How many times have we heard someone say “God told me to …” and then later on, after it all went wrong, changed their story and concluded the Devil must have deceived them. We do not deny that God will speak to people to give them direction but it is also clear from the Bible that God guides through circumstances, friends and common sense. So what should the single Christian do?We are not attempting to write a thesis on God’s guidance for the single Christian here but just to prompt readers to question how much and in what way they are involving God in their decision making regarding finding a suitable partner. Committed Christians seriously seeking God’s will for them in the area of relationships will be seeking God to guide them in all areas of their lives and not just in this one. It would be un-realistic to expect true direction from God in one area if the rest of ones life is totally going away from God. These same single Christians will also be asking their friends to pray for them and even vet potential partners for suitability. Lastly, single Christians need to be open to guidance through their circumstances, paying attention to how dates went and how these potential partners got on with their friends.
