ChristiansUK.com was created so that single Christians could meet others in an environment where they knew that they were safe.
General sites may advertise themselves as having “Christian dating” but the reality is that they usually only offer a single filter that allows people to search for those that ticked the “Christian” box rather than the Muslim or Hindu boxes.
This is hardly the same as genuine online Christian dating where committed Christians can have profiles based on their faith and can be sure that other won’t email them despite not being Christians themselves.
The main reason we insist that people who join our site are Christians is that we want to make sure that genuine Christians are not misled into having relationships with people that, although good and moral, do not share the same fundamental spiritual outlook on life. The Bible is clear that Christians should not be “yoked” with unbelievers and this implies that should they become “yoked” together that there will be problems. The Bible goes on to say that a believer and an unbeliever are like light and darkness and having nothing in common. The Bible is saying that there is no way that the two can exist together. It is an “unequal yoking”, as if two animals are yoked together and one is much larger than the other causing pain for both as they walk along. Is this the kind of relationship we want?
We have recently found a site that describes itself as a “Christian dating” site that actually advocates Christians dating non-Christians with the express desire to convert them in the process. We find this an appalling and extremely dangerous idea which deserves to be blasted with the truth. So why is this so dangerous and misguided?
Firstly, we could say that there are plenty of single Christians in the church to not need to start dating non-Christians at all. This site was set up so Christians could find other Christians without having to start looking to the non-believers.
Secondly, we would advise that unless someone is very guarded emotionally there is always the danger that while dating a non-Christian you could fall in love with them. The risks associated with an emotional attachment could be that the relationship takes a more physical direction than would otherwise be the case if it was with a Christian. Non-Christians have a different expectation from dating and if Christians are not morally strong this may lead them into trouble.
Thirdly, if you were to say that you were not in fact dating them in order to have a relationship with them but to convert them how would that make the non-Christian feel since they thought you were dating them because you liked them. We think this is dishonest and God does not bless dishonesty.
So, in conclusion, we created this site for Christians alone and we do not advise non-Christians to join.
