Christian dating advice article: Should single Christians date non-Christians?The issues surrounding dating non-Christians.
The Bible doesn’t really say anything at all about what we would describe as “Christian Dating”. In Bible times many marriages were arranged and no formal “dating” occurred.
These days we have to work out who we are going to go out with and marry ourselves and this is where life gets complicated, especially for a single Christian. The Bible and dating non-ChristiansAlthough the Bible is not specific in talking about dating it does talk about who we should be closely associated with and who not to be. The book of Proverbs talks in great detail about the kind of people you meet who will pull you away from a Christian lifestyle and morality if you are not careful. So should Christians date non-Christians?The only reason why anyone would consider dating someone is if they are thinking about the possibility of a long-term relationship with that person. If that person is a non-Christian then we would wonder why someone who is a committed Christian would consider this in the first place. The Bible teaches that ultimately we have nothing fundamentally in common with non-Christians. Their outlook on life is from a worldly point of view and they have no real faith. Of course many people would say that their poor experiences in finding a partner in Church have led them to consider looking to non-Christians. With the availability of online Christian dating services such as this one we would encourage single Christians to look again at dating single Christians. The usual outcome of people married, or in relationships with non-Christians is that the faith of the Christian slides and they end up not in Church at all. At the end of the day, dating a non-Christian is not worth the risk in our opinion.
